SUMMARY:Binging the Syntax: A Workshop for Greedy\, Horny Sentences (10/8/2023 - Stella Corso)
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will look at examples of energetic\, engorged\, fervent\, and audacious syntax\, consulting some literary theories of the sentence along the way. We will examine these sentences for their various multiplicities and anticipations\, considering how many temporalities\, attitudes\, and points of view one might dare to contain. Please bring a short piece of in-progress writing (of any genre) so that you may experiment with pushing the boundaries of your own slutty syntax.\n\nBio: Stella Corso is the author of Green Knife (Rescue Press\, 2023) and TANTRUM (Rescue Press\, 2017) along with the chapbooks Taboo Vivant (b l u s h\, 2022) and Wind & the Augur (Sixth Finch\, 2021). She is a graduate of the MFA program at UMass-Amherst and a founding member of the Connecticut River Valley Poets’ Theater (CRVPT). Currently\, she is a doctoral candidate in English & Literary Arts at the University of Denver where she acts as the Managing Editor for Denver Quarterly. She also works as a farmhand on Lost Greens Farm in Colorado and is busy writing her first novel.

DESCRIPTION:Some poems\, like some songs\, are hits\, bops\, bangers. They stick in our heads and we can’t stop humming along. What distinguishes a hit from a flop? And how can we learn how to write hit poems? In this workshop\, we’ll read a sample of hit poems\, talk about what makes them tick\, then write our own.\n\nBio: Zoe Tuck was born in Texas\, became a person in California\, and now lives in Western Massachusetts. She is the author of Bedroom Vowel (BUNNY Presse\, 2023) and Terror Matrix (Timeless\, Infinite Light\, 2014)\, in addition to the chapbooks The Book of Bella (Doublecross Press)\, bound in a dos-a-dos edition with Emily Hunerwadel’s Peach Woman\, and Vape Cloud of Unknowing (Belladonna* Collaborative). With Britt Billmeyer-Finn\, she is the co-host of The But Also house reading series and she co-edits Hot Pink Magazine with Emily Bark Brown.
