The process involves an earth colored ground and working only with lights and darks\, an ochre layer\, more darks and lights with the goal of achieving a wide range of values. For the last layer a transparent glaze of oil paint is added. We look at the painting only in terms of value until the last layer which is when the color is added. \n I took a class in this technique many many years ago and often still think in terms of layering.\n It will be fun\, not as technical as it sounds\, just a nod to the tradition.
