SUMMARY:Poetry for the Horizon (4 week series with Phoebe Glick $100)
DESCRIPTION:Poetry for the Horizon \nThis is a generative poetry workshop for communists\, queers\, and anyone with an active longing for a better world. Over 4 weeks of prompts and workshopping\, students will read and write poetry oriented against the dominance of capital markets\, in hopes to center desire\, feeling\, and creative power. We will explore the symbiotic relationship between poetry/ art and political acts\, and how although poetry is not “a brick through a window\,” it can do something a brick can’t do. Potential readings include Anne Boyer\, Wendy Trevino\, Ghassan Khanafani\, Sean Bonney\, Amiri Baraka\, June Jordan\, with Marx & Engels. Students will leave with new work\, feedback from instructor and peers\, and a writing practice invigorated by community. No experience required\, anticapitalist sentiment welcomed.
