SUMMARY:Digital Death Dive with Jayson Keery 8/20
DESCRIPTION:Digital Death Drive is a dip into finding poetic inspiration via digital technology. In class\, we’ll briefly discuss the ethics and theories of technology as a means of artistic production\, weaving in the history of techno music. Then we’ll launch into different means of unlocking a poetic flow through use of personal technology. Please be prepared to use a smart phone and feel free to bring a laptop. If you have neither of these\, no worries! We’ll have some on hand. \nBio: Jayson Keery is based in Western Massachusetts. They are the author of The Choice is Real (Metatron Press\, 2023) and the chapbook Astroturf (o•blēk editions\, 2022). They have been anthologized in Mundus Press’s Nocturnal Properties\, Nightboat Books’ We Want It All: An Anthology of Radical Trans Poetics\, and Pilot Press London’s A Queer Anthology of Rage. They received the 2022 Metatron Prize for Rising Authors\, selected by Fariha Róisín\, and the 2021 Daniel and Merrily Glosband MFA Fellowship\, selected by Wendy Xu.
