One month, four themes, and your new year’s writing commitment. Over the course of four weeks, gather to discuss and generate new work with writer L Scully. This workshop will occur Tuesday evenings in January in two hour, limited group sessions at LookyHere. Each week we will explore a different theme through literary and artistic references, group discussion, and generative writing prompts provided live and in session. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to jumpstart your writing practice for 2025 in a supportive and productive environment guided by a tapestry of subject matter. Let’s get weird!

Learn to print and layer colors on Looky Here’s Risograph printer in this 2 hour workshop! Students will collaboratively make a series of 20 11×17 posters by scanning leaves and flowers. All materials provided, though feel free to bring your own plant matter.

Vermont based painter and puppet-maker, Julia Zanes will teach this marionette building class using skills and designs handed down from Mrs. Barbara Richards of “The Small World Theater” in Hopkinton NH. This “British Control” style of marionette is easier to make and control and leaves much elbow room for personal vision while still making a marionette that can “imitate life”. All materials will be included in the cost of this 6 week class which will run from 1/15-2/19 from 6-8pm on Wednesday evenings.

Quilting 101 – part 1: Building Blocks 1/25, 2/1, and 2/8

Creativity is held well through soft materials, creating something of nothing, and slow stitching. Part 1 of this foundational quilting course will be focused on traditional quilting techniques. Learn how to build a quilt block using checkers, half square triangles, strip piecing, chain piecing, nesting seams, improv quilting, and creating larger patterns to form your quilt top. This class is not project based. Students will have the space to follow their creative dreams!

Quilting 101 – Part 2: 3/8, 3/15, and 3/22

Part 2 will build on learned techniques and explore “sandwiching” your quilt, binding, and finishing your quilt. We will create using both hand-sewing techniques and using sewing machines. A few sewing machines will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have one! Sewing skills are helpful but not a must. Come learn basic quilting techniques and deepen your artistic practice!

A workshop for people to engage playfully with different art forms, individually and as a group. We will focus on process more than product to create community that will allow for spontaneity, creativity without judgement, individual expression and….FUN! No experience necessary. Just bring an open mind, yer rebellious spirit and your willingness to say yes or no to the offerings.

This six session comedy workshop is designed to make performing stand-up comedy less daunting!

Over six weeks, we will alternate between “content” workshop sessions and open mic workshop sessions. In “content” sessions, we will watch comedy sets by pros and discuss what makes them great. We will break down their jokes, their stage personas, and the structures of their sets and learn from them what works and doesn’t.

Then, on open mic weeks, we’ll take our skills to the mic!

This workshop is specifically meant for people underrepresented in traditional comedy spaces, though all are welcome. No experience necessary/all levels of experience welcome!

ENTROPY is an in person, generative writing workshop hosted by L Scully. The two hour class aims to produce the beginnings of 2+ new pieces of writing based on original prompts provided live and in session. We will discuss our artistic interpretations of ENTROPY as a theme in reference to our personal and collective creative practices, as well as sharing work by writers who add to our understanding of Disorder as a concept. This class is designed to be cross-genre and is open to new and seasoned writers alike.

We will brainstorm, create, discuss, and share work in a supportive and conversational setting. 

We are living in a conundrum of degradation. our bodies age, the State is falling, disorder(s) run rampant in our minds. God feels random and chaos feels inevitable. There is no choice but to write toward uncertainty. What does the end of the world look like to you as an artist? What does the future look like for writers whose worlds have already ended? Cope, world-build, freak out, investigate together.

The Collage Club is where you can play, experiment, and learn the fundamentals of creating a collage! No experience is necessary to participate and open to all ages!  All collage materials will be provided or you can bring your own. We will meet from 1-3 pm on every final Saturday of the month! Tickets for this event are $10 each class. Let’s cut things up, glue them down, and create something beautiful!

Learn how to design and print on the Risograph in this stationary workshop! Each student will use 2 colors and will make an edition of 20 custom note cards and envelopes!

In this class you will learn how bees make beeswax and how humans have worked with beeswax over millennia.  Then you will learn how to render beeswax for candle making and hand dip candles from beeswax.  You’ll take home a set of two hand dipped candles for your own ritual needs.

All skill levels welcome, no candle making experience is necessary.  Must be able to sit for prolonged periods (45 min) and stand periodically for candle dipping.  All materials provided.
