3 week Quilting with Rae (Part 1): Saturdays 3:30-6:30 1/25, 2/1, 2/15

Part 1: Creativity is held well through soft materials, creating something of nothing, and slow stitching. Part 1 of this foundational quilting course will be focused on traditional quilting techniques. Learn how to build a quilt block using checkers, half square triangles, strip piecing, chain piecing, nesting seams, improv quilting, and creating larger patterns to form your quilt top. This class is not project based. Students will have the space to follow their creative dreams!

Then, we will build on learned techniques and explore “sandwiching” your quilt, binding, and finishing your quilt. We will create using both hand-sewing techniques and using sewing machines. A few sewing machines will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have one! Sewing skills are helpful but not a must. Come learn basic quilting techniques and deepen your artistic practice!

Most Materials included – you are encouraged to bring fabric that makes your heart sing. Head to Swanson’s Fabrics! Looky Here does have plenty of scraps as well. Batting/thread/scissors/everything else included.
