Entropy Workshop with L. Scully (Tuesday 11/12 6:00-8:00)

October 5, 2024

Get tickets here

ENTROPY is an in person, generative writing workshop hosted by L Scully. The two hour class aims to produce the beginnings of 2+ new pieces of writing based on original prompts provided live and in session. We will discuss our artistic interpretations of ENTROPY as a theme in reference to our personal and collective creative practices, as well as sharing work by writers who add to our understanding of Disorder as a concept. This class is designed to be cross-genre and is open to new and seasoned writers alike.

We will brainstorm, create, discuss, and share work in a supportive and conversational setting.

We are living in a conundrum of degradation. our bodies age, the State is falling, disorder(s) run rampant in our minds. God feels random and chaos feels inevitable. There is no choice but to write toward uncertainty. What does the end of the world look like to you as an artist? What does the future look like for writers whose worlds have already ended? Cope, world-build, freak out, investigate together.

                                          Its easy!

This year, our fundraising goal is $50,000. Looky Here is a non-profit art space founded by artists in Greenfield, MA in 2017. We provide the community with affordable used art supplies, art workshops, exhibition space and access to our Risograph printer, which we use to produce an ever-growing collection of cards, books and prints from local artists. Our funding comes in the form of donations, ticket sales, printing revenue, merchandise sales and the occasional local grant.

Since opening in 2017, we have: hosted over 1,250 workshops, curated over 40 gallery shows, trained over 100 people in Riso printing, organized over 10 community festivals, and rehomed countless boxes of art supplies. Looky Here has been largely volunteer-run since it’s inception. The funding needed to sustain the space would ideally come from large grants, however, we need at least $50,000 to become applicable for these larger capacity grants. With more funding, we would be able to pay our managing directors a minimum wage, hire a larger team, provide more robust scholarships for workshops, offer more free events, upgrade out facilities, host visiting artists and sustain our mission of affordable arts for all!

On Our Way by Chelsea Granger (June/July 2024)

July 3, 2024

All Posts

Chelsea Granger is a multidisciplinary artist. Painting, drawing, illustration, murals and tattoos are the foundations of her practice. She recently self-published a zine about death and grief titled “So Many Ways to Draw a Ghost”. After the death of her mom as well as a dear friend, she started her art as a way to sign up life, with the hope that her art can act as a doorway to create conversations about death and grief. Chelsea’s art is of the every day, inspired by the overlap of earth/spirit dimensions, and woods as church. She is interested in painting as medicine, painting as a portal, painting as a spell. Her work has been exhibited across the Northeast, and her murals exist across New England. For more than twelve years, Chelsea has collaborated with Thyme Herbal, making medicine posters and zines. Chelsea holds a bachelor’s degree in painting from UMass-Amherst and a certificate in therapeutic recreation from Gateway Community College. Her work celebrates life while honoring death and walking gently into the unknown.
