Putting in the Sky
Looky Here and Fresh Show Films are teaming up to shoot a feature film!
The screenplay, written by Julia Tadlock, is a comedic drama centered around two siblings who find themselves forced to confront the complex history of their childhood, while learning about each other, for the first time, as adults.
The film is also a celebration of art; exploring what it means to be a creator, an admirer and a devotee of the process of creating art.
As such, the process of making this film will embody a reverence for creation, creativity and collaboration.
The film will be shot in various locations throughout Wyndham county and will feature many people and places familiar to the Brattleboro-area community.
Our team is composed of local actors, visual artists, musicians, designers and technicians who will collaborate throughout the pre-production, shooting and post-production of the film. Our hope is that the final product will reflect the depth and diversity of talent that exists in our community.
Your contributions to our campaign will go towards paying the team members, material expenses, travel expenses, food and contracted services.
Once completed, we intend to submit the film into national film festivals, and hope to hold a public showing to share the work with our friends, family and community.
Logline:
As they prepare to sell their late father’s house, two siblings reckon with objects and memories unearthed from the past.
Synopsis:
Brought together in the wake of their father’s unexpected death, siblings Wyndham and Miranda Tilney unearth a tangled web of objects and memories that have the power to dismantle everything they think they know about themselves, their childhood and their fractured family unit.
Miranda Tilney, a severe and driven art historian, receives the news of her father’s death from her brother and former child star, Wydham Tilney. Begrudgingly, Miranda returns to her hometown in Vermont to bury her father, for whom she harbors years of resentment towards for his neglect and abandonment in the aftermath of her mother’s death when she was a teenager. Wyndham is in deep mourning for his father (and former talent manager) when he and his sister are informed of the extent of their father’s debt, which will now be passed down to them. Miranda appeals to her brother to agree to sell their father’s home, a home purchased with the money Wyndham earned as the titular character in the successful children’s series “Sammy Saint Cloud” which aired in the early 2000’s. Wyndham reluctantly agrees, and the siblings embark on the arduous task of cleaning out the home that their father spent decades filling with art supplies, detritus, junk and memories. While cleaning out the attic, Miranda makes a surprising discovery that has the power to change everything…if she can prove that it is what she knows it to be.
